If opening your network closet means staring at a tangle of unlabeled cables, a switch sitting on the floor and a router nobody wants to touch, you are not alone. Harold Ragan Communications installs racks and patch panels, replaces aging switches, re-patches and labels every connection, and leaves a closet any technician can understand — for offices, clinics, restaurants and warehouses across Northwest Arkansas.
We can — and it usually solves more than the look of the closet.
No labels, no map, and every change means unplugging cables and seeing what breaks.
Switches, modems and routers stacked on top of each other with no airflow and no rack.
Small unmanaged switches added over the years, chained together, creating slowdowns and loops.
A bumped cable or overheated switch takes the office down and nobody can find why.
A move, expansion or new phone system is the right time to rebuild the closet properly.
A previous vendor or employee set it up and left no passwords or documentation.
A properly sized two-post rack, four-post rack or wall-mount cabinet, anchored and grounded, with room to grow. Small offices often need nothing more than a wall-mount cabinet; larger sites get a floor rack with cable management.
Building cables terminated to patch panels instead of plugged straight into switches, so moves and changes happen with a short patch cable. Damaged or badly terminated runs are re-terminated and every run is tested for continuity and correct pin-out.
Chained unmanaged switches replaced with properly sized managed switches — often PoE, so access points, cameras and phones are powered from the rack. Where it fits, this is a good time to move to a UniFi network with VLANs.
Correct-length patch cables, horizontal and vertical management, and labels on both ends of every cable and every patch port. Power is cleaned up too, with a UPS recommended for the core gear.
You get a port map showing which wall jack goes to which patch port and switch port, plus a record of equipment, IP ranges and where the admin logins are kept.
We trace what is there, identify what is critical and what can be retired, and note any failing gear.
A fixed quote and a cutover plan — often after hours or on a weekend for busy offices.
Mount the rack, re-terminate to patch panels, install switches and re-patch everything cleanly.
Verify every device is back online, test the runs, label everything and hand over the port map.
Offices, clinics, restaurants, retail and warehouses throughout the NWA metro.
Usually yes. We plan the cutover in stages or schedule the disruptive part after hours, so most staff only notice that things work better the next morning.
Many small offices only need a wall-mount cabinet with a patch panel, a switch and the internet gear. We size it to what you have plus room to grow.
Yes. Replacing chained unmanaged switches with a properly sized managed switch is one of the most common parts of a cleanup.
Yes. Wall plates, patch ports and both ends of each patch cable are labeled to match a port map we leave with you.
Yes. We identify and keep phones, cameras, printers and other devices working through the cleanup, and we can also provide business phone service if you are replacing a phone system.
Send a quick description — or just call — and we will set up a time to look at the closet and give you a fixed quote. Harold Ragan Communications, the networking division of Harold Ragan CodeWorks.
